At 44, she dared to start again—with zero code and full heart.

Meet Isabel Martins

Human spark plug. Nature lover. Lifelong learner.

Isabel Martins, 44, is an Operations Assistant by title, but that barely scratches the surface. With a degree in Human Resources, postgrad in workplace safety, and a love for photography and music (she once had a band!), Isabel is a woman in constant evolution. When she joined NoCode Institute through the New Talents Academy, she wasn’t looking for a diploma. She was chasing a new version of herself.

The Challenge

After years in admin and project management, Isabel hit pause.
She left a long-term job that no longer fulfilled her. And while she dabbled in multimedia training, she still felt a gap—especially around web and app design. Programming felt like a wall she couldn’t climb.
But she wasn’t ready to settle. Not yet.

The Transformation

“I don’t have to understand code to create something meaningful.”

Here’s what changed:

• Discovered the power of no-code—especially Airtable, which reminded her of SQL (but “simpler and smarter”)
• Gained confidence designing useful, human-centered apps
• Learned to navigate WordPress.org through real client work—after many headaches and breakthroughs
• Created multiple mini-projects, each one sharpening her eye and voice
• Found her rhythm through challenges (“always last-minute—but I delivered!”)

And most importantly?

She spoke up. She asked to be hired for image editing at her current company.

They said yes.

Goal: A simple, clean WordPress site for a hiking tour company with expert guides across Portugal and its islands.
